Back to Events

Sister Suzanne Marie Ronan O.Carm. passed away peacefully in her sleep on the night of Sunday, May 28, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham, Massachusetts. Sr. Suzanne was in the 71st year of her religious life.

Suzanne Marie Ronan was born on September 23, 1931, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the oldest of four children born to Harold and Leona (nee Kirchoff) Ronan. Both of her parents were also born in Grand Rapids, MI.  She was pre-deceased by her parents and siblings, including her sister, Rita Quinn, who died on May 2nd.  Sr. Suzanne is survived by her nieces and nephews.

Having entered the Congregation on March 6, 1952, she received the habit on September 8, 1952, taking the name Sister Mary Suzanne Therese and later changing to her baptismal name.  Sister Suzanne professed first vows on May 3, 1954, and made her perpetual profession on December 8, 1958.  She trained as an LPN during her early years in the Community, was a graduate of the Geriatric Spiritual Care Program, was assigned to the Pastoral Care Department, performed duties in the Chapel, and served the residents as a Eucharistic Minister.  Always being conscientious of her own appearance, Sister Suzanne also enjoyed assisting the residents who frequented the Beauty Shop.  In addition to numerous other Missions, Sister Suzanne served for many years in West Palm Beach, FL at: Lourdes Residence (1960-1962, 1963-1967, 1968-1971), The Pennsylvania (1987-1994) and Lourdes Noreen McKeen Residence (2008-2022) where she was admitted as a resident in 2021.  Her health continuing to fail, Sister Suzanne was transferred to the Lourdes Unit at St. Patrick’s Manor on May 5, 2022, where she lived her final days in contentment and peace.

May the Lord welcome Sister Suzanne Marie to her heavenly home, where all struggle is ended, anxiety is no more, and there is only joy and peace in the presence of the One who knows us better than we know ourselves, and who loves us with an everlasting love.
