Back to Events

Sister Margaret Therese Marie O.Carm.  passed away unexpectedly at Marian Manor, South Boston, on November 30, 2023, in the 65th year of her religious life.

Margaret Mary Jackson was born on April 16, 1940, in South Boston, MA, to Michael and Margaret (nee Noonan) Jackson. Both parents hailed from Co. Waterford in Ireland. Sr. Margaret is survived by her sister, Noreen Begin; nieces, Lori (Jeff) Fernald, Meg (Stephen) Bean, Julie (John) Wiggin; and nephew, Robert (Kelly) Begin, as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Having entered the Congregation on September 7, 1958, Sr. Margaret Therese professed First Vows on June 9, 1961, and made Perpetual Profession on April 16, 1966. She trained as an L.P.N. and earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration from St. Francis College. She held nursing and administrative positions in several of her Missions, including Homes in Detroit, New Hampshire, New York, and Massachusetts, and was also commissioned as a Notary Public. Sr. Margaret’s final Obedience was to Marian Manor where she served since March 15, 2003, as Development Director and Resident Advocate.

Having an outgoing personality and a wonderful sense of humor, Sr. Margaret endeared herself to her family, her Carmelite Sisters, the residents, and the staff with whom she served. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. We thank her for her 65 years of faithfulness to the God who called her into Carmel, and for the blessing she has been to all of us. May Sr. Margaret Therese Marie receive the reward of her labors, and may she rest in God’s embrace until we meet again.
