Sister M. Brendan Rosarie, O.Carm.  passed away peacefully at St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham, MA on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 in the 77th year of her religious life.

Joan Marie O’Brien was born on January 28, 1929 in Cambridge, MA. She entered the Congregation on February 1, 1948, received the Habit on March 20, 1949, made her First Profession on April 12, 1950 and her Final Profession on December 8, 1954.

Sister Brendan’s first Mission was to Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River, MA (1950). Her most recent Missions were Our Lady’s Haven, Fairhaven, MA, (1982-1985), St. Ann’s Home, Dover, NH (1985-1991); and Marian Manor, So. Boston, MA (1991-2004). Sister Brendan’s final Mission was to St. Patrick’s Manor where she was sent in 2004. On April 4, 2017, Sister Brendan was admitted to the nursing home and has been cared for by the dedicated staff and Sisters of St. Patrick’s Manor for the past eight years.

Sister Brendan was trained and certified as an X-Ray Technician. She was also certified as a Medical Assistant from the Carnegie Institute, Detroit, MI. Throughout the years she assisted in various areas of our Ministry, including Occupational Therapy, Recreation, and the Chapel, and as a Unit Clerk, Receptionist, Refectorian, and Eucharistic Minister.

Sister Brendan’s life of prayer was important to her, and even as her health failed, she made great efforts to be faithful to personal and community prayers. Her spiritual life seemed to be the one constant anchor in her life. May the many prayers Sister Mary Brendan Rosarie offered during her life in Carmel be pleasing to the Lord, and may the cross she carried merit for her the crown of eternal life.
