On June 14, 2025, the memorial of the great prophet of Carmel Saint Elisha, the Carmelite Sisters held a Vocation Day of Discernment at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown, New York. There were four young women who attended as well as several Carmelite Friars from the Province of Saint Elias.  The event was open to the general public as the Shrine is also a designated place for the Jubilee Year of Hope Plenary Indulgence. The day opened with a welcome at Saint Edith Stein Conference Room and proceeded with a conference from Reverend Paul Richmond, O.Carm. who spoke on the Carmelite topic of "The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection.  The Holy Mass was celebrated by Reverend Jonathan Steele, O.Carm. There were opportunities for Confessions, exploring the grounds of the shrine, enrollment to the Brown Scapular, visit to the gift shop and personal prayer.  The Blessed Sacrament was exposed for adoration and personal prayer.  Sister Helena of Mary, O.Carm., vocation director, met with the four young women to talk about religious life, the Congregation and the call of responding to God's invitation. There was an interesting Q&A from the young women. In the afternoon, Very Reverend Mario Esposito, O.Carm., then Prior Provincial of the Saint Elias Province, gave a talk on Venerable Mary Angeline Teresa McCrory, Foundress of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm. The day ended with a tour of the shrine by Reverend Jonathan Steele, O.Carm. who talked about the stained glass windows depicting the holy men and women of the Carmelite Order.  Pray for the young women who continue their discernment of the path God is calling them to follow. Many thanks to those who made this enjoyable and grace-filled day happen- Rev.
