The Carmelite Sisters held their annual Rosary Rally on October 20, 2018.  The event was held at the beautiful grounds of Avila-on-Hudson, Germantown, New York.  Although the day started overcast, and for a short time actually rained, the participants were determined to pay tribute and devotion to the Mother of Jesus on this October month of the Holy Rosary.  The Rosary procession culminated in the chapel where the Crowning Ceremony and the Family Consecration prayer followed.  Father Jim Hess, O.Carm. celebrated the Vigil Mass of the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Fatima Day and Rosary Rally

On August 13, 2017, the Carmelite Sisters hosted a Rosary Rally on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary Jubilee Celebration of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima.  This day in 1917 would have been the promised day Our Lady was to appear to the children of Fatima, but because of the children's imprisonment, the apparition occurred on August 19, 1917 instead.  You can read the details of the apparitions HERE.   The public event was held at Saint Teresa's Motherhouse, Avila-on-Hudson in Germantown, New York.  In partnership with the Albany Division of the World Apostolate of Fatima / Blue Army, a special statue of Our Lady of Fatima was brought to the Motherhouse. We were privileged to welcome as our speaker, Professor Americo Lopez-Ortiz, President of the World Apostolate of Fatima International.  Pope Francis has granted a plenary indulgence for this Jubilee Year of the Fatima Apparitions.  You can read about it HERE.

The Eucharistic Sacrifice was celebrated by Very Rev. Mario Esposito and with Rev. Justin Cinnante, O.Carm. as concelebrant.  You can read Father Mario's homily below.

The Carmelite Sisters sponsored the Annual Rosary Rally held at their Motherhouse in Germantown, NY. It has been a custom for those participating to walk in procession around the convent property, enjoy and  admire the foliage and beautiful scenery the Hudson Valley has to offer, and conclude with the highlight October crowning of Our Lady. This year, however, the weather was not conducive to a procession and the event was decidedly held in Chapel. The Eucharist was celebrated by Father Christopher J. Iannizzotto, O.Carm.
As in previous years, tables were set up for the many free religious items and books. Despite the rain, it turned out to be a beautiful day to honor Mary! Thanks to all who joined us! Hope to see you again next year!

2014 Rosary Rally

The Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm held their Annual Rosary Rally on October 18, 2014 at Saint Teresa’s Motherhouse in Germantown, NY.  The day was dedicated to praying for world peace in memory of James Foley on what would have been his 41st birthday.  James had great devotion to the Rosary, and was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish in Rochester, New Hampshire, where the Mother Angeline Ministers of Care serve the sick and the homebound.  The event was attended by members of the Carmelite family- Friars, pre-Novices, Sisters, Third Order members, family, friends and the general public who came to celebrate the Mother of God.  Despite the threatening clouds, the Rosary procession proceeded with apprehension for a chance of rain, but was completed with the beautiful spectacle of a crisp, clear, and colorful autumn day typical of this part of Upstate New York!
