Sr. Virginia Joseph Webster, O.Carm. R.I.P

Sister Helena - Sunday, February 01, 2015

Sister M. Virginia Joseph, O.Carm. died on the afternoon of Saturday, January 31, 2015 after suffering a stroke earlier in the day.  A resident of St. Patrick’s Manor, Sr. Virginia received the Sacrament of the Sick, and Sr. Helen Rosarie, Sr. Brigid DeLourdes, Sr. Francis Clare, and Sr. Francis of All Saints were all at the bedside when Sr. Virgin,

Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts on May 31, 1942, Dorothy Nancy Webster entered the Community on September 7, 1961, professed first vows on April 1, 1964 and professed final vows on December 8, 1969. Throughout her many years as a Carmelite Sister, Sr. Virginia was stationed in Houses in various states, including Maryland, Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.  She had been at St. Patrick’s Manor since June 1, 1995.  We extend our special and heartfelt condolences to Sr. Virginia’s younger sister, Sr. Alice Webster, as we share in her personal loss.

Endowed with the gift of creativity, Sr. Virginia Joseph loved to knit and to bake.  The delicious baked beans she often made during her days at Mount Carmel in Manchester, NH are especially remembered!  She was often assigned to the Activities Department where she was able to use her God-given talents on behalf of the residents. Even though she faced numerous health challenges over a period of many years, Sr. Virginia always managed a smile – a smile that often held a touch of mischief in it!  And when she was selling raffle tickets in the lobby, no one could pass that smile by without buying one.

May the gates of heaven now open to Sr. M. Virginia Joseph, and may she receive the crown of glory reserved for her since the beginning of time.  May she rest in peace!

My dearest (Nancy) Sr. Virginia I will miss you daily. Your certainly deserved your reward, your daily battles were commendable. Each and every time you tried even harder to be your old self after each medical trial you encountered. Finally God said to you, "Come Home". You are my example, and I am so proud to say you are my Sister.Rest in Peace.
