I attribute my vocation to my mother. When I was young, I saw her help every person who came to her for help even if she didn't know them. She gave them vegetables from her garden or a meal, if that was what they needed. The example of my mother is what made me think I wanted to take care of old people. She was so good to everybody, I wanted to be like her.
A Franciscan Sister who taught me in school told me about Mother Angeline Teresa, the Foundress of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm. I entered this Community as a Postulant at St. Patrick's Home in the Bronx, New York. The moment I walked through the entrance gate I felt "this is the place for me". That was 64 years ago. I would do it all over again.
I thank God for my mother, for the Sisters who taught me in school and for my Carmelite vocation.
