O Jesus, my Shepherd,
I’m one of your sheep,
And grateful to be in your fold,
For I can do nothing
Without You to lead me
To shelter from danger and cold.

Without You I wander
‘Mid dangers all ‘round,
And … (how frightfully easy to do)
May change my allegiance,
Without realizing,
To things "more important than You."

I need You, O Jesus,
Please don’t let me stray.
Please don’t let me wander afar;
For I cannot live
Apart from your Life.
May I never lose sight of "the Star."

May I keep my ear
Attuned to your voice.
May I hear You Call my name,
then come to you
In quiet prayer,
A refuge from life’s game.

"Live on in Me,
As I do in you."
O, Jesus, please let it be.
Please take this sheep,
Who loves you so,
And keep me close to Thee.
