Feast day: March 19
Saint Joseph the husband of Mary, Mother of Jesus, is the special protector of the Order of Carmel . The Carmelite Order, as with the entire Church, celebrates his feast with great solemnity. He is a model of silence, total obedience and docility to God. His silence in the Scriptures is a confirmation of what the Rule of Saint Albert says: "Your strength will lie in silence and hope."
Devotional Prayer:
O blessed Saint Joseph, faithful guardian and protector of virgins,
to whom God entrusted Jesus and Mary,
I implore you by the love with which you did bear them,
to preserve me from every defilement of soul and body,
that I may always serve them in holiness and purity of life.
Amen.
