Beatification of John Henry Cardinal Newman

In New York City on Saturday, October 23, 2010, a conference and Mass will celebrate the September beatification of John Henry Cardinal Newman by Pope Benedict XVI. Sponsored by Fordham University and The Spiritual Family The Work, the one-day event begins with 8:30 am Mass at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. The main celebrant will be Most Reverend James D. Conley, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Denver, along with Father Rector Peter Willi, FSO, International Superior of the Priests’ Community of The Spiritual Family The Work. (more…)

Carmelite Renewal Program & Preached Retreat

Date:  September 26- October 2, 2010

Twenty three of our  Sisters will gather at the Motherhouse for a month-long Renewal Program. The time will be spent in Spiritual Conferences, Prayer, Community and special liturgies. The theme for this year’s Conferences will be on “Founding Women.” Some of these Carmelite Foundresses were St. Teresa of Jesus, Blessed Maria Crocifissa Curcio, Blessed Candelaria of St. Joseph, St. Joachina de Verduna de Mas, and Mother Mary of the Blessed Sacrament (Servant of God.) The second week of the Renewal Program will include  Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Foundress of the Missionaries of Charity. We are blessed to have as speakers Very Rev. Mario Esposito, O.Carm, and  Rev. John Horan, O.Carm.   On the third week of the program, Very Rev.  John Russell will talk  about Mother Angeline Teresa, Servant of God and  Foundress of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm.  Monsignor James Turro is scheduled to give the Retreat on the last week of the Program. Please join us in asking God to bless this special time together and to make it fruitful for all our participating Sisters.

Annual Rosary Rally

The Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm invite you to take part in a Rosary Procession and Special Mass in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Saturday, October 16th at 2:00 pm.  This event will take place at St. Teresa’s Motherhouse in Germantown, NY.

DIRECTIONS FOR TRAVEL:

GOING NORTH ON 9G, make a LEFT at the brown “Clermont State Historic Site” sign onto County Rte. 6.  Go 3/4 mile and make RIGHT onto Woods Road (County Rte. 35).  Go 1/4 mile.  First left is the main entrance of the Carmelite Sisters.  You will see two brick pillars down near the road and a statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel up on the hill.  Follow driveway to the buildings.

GOING SOUTH on 9G, at Germantown traffic light (Stewarts on your left, gas station on your right) go straight through light, and make your first right onto Woods Road (County Rte 35).  The turn is directly across from Germantown High School entrance.  Go about 3 miles.  The Carmelite Sisters main entrance is on the right.  You will see two brick pillars near the road and a statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel up on the hill.  Follow driveway to the buildings.
