Homegrown Stories: Saint Teresa's Motherhouse

On February 23, 2018,Very Rev. Mario Esposito offered Mass in Mother Angeline's chapel, which was recently refurbished.  After over thirty years, the walltex had begun to split, the ceiling paint was peeling, and there were uneven areas on one of the walls. This situation was hardly a challenge for Bill Clark and the Maintenance staff, who, in no time, added new sheet rock to the walls, scraped and painted the whole area and replaced the non -functioning air conditioner.  While the furnishings were removed, decision was made to change the orientation of the altar and add chairs instead of the pews previously in use (the pews will eventually be placed along the walls in the Heritage Center reflection room).  A new picture of Flos Carmeli and a credence table were added to Mother's chapel.  Her picture and the rest of the religious artifacts were rehung.  Sisters were invited to make a visit to the renovated chapel, and certainly visitors to Avila in the future are invited to do the same.
